
SUDBURY — Seventeen-year-old Nolan Schlessman drove by the same dilapidated picnic table outside the Sudbury Senior Center five days a week on his way to swim practice at Atkinson Pool, located directly next door.
“We see people come here all the time and I saw that the old table was really worn and might fall apart soon,” said Nolan, a junior at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School who has been a Boy Scout since he was around 6 years old. The table's boards were warped, and many screws had loosened, fallen out or were just rusted.
“I thought it might be nice to build them some new ones,” he said.
