A
Report on the Rock Climbing
by
James
On November 17 to 19,
fifteen Scouts went rock climbing in White Mountains of New Hampshire.
We had dinner at
McDonalds on the way up. When we got there we set up the tents and found our
bunkmates.
The next morning we woke
up and started breakfast. We each
had different patrols and we had different meals for each; ours was oatmeal.
Then after finishing breakfast, we drove about 15 minutes to the rock climbing
area. We hiked about half a mile to get up to the rock that we were to climb. We
had three instructors that told us what to do. We all put on harnesses and
strapped up to the different ropes. There were three different ropes for three
different climbs, rated easiest to hardest. We each got to climb four times. One
person was the belayer, the person who held the end of one of the ropes; the
other one was the climber, who had the ropes strapped on to the harness. The
climber then would then climb this 25-foot cliff. At the end of the climbs one
of the instructors set up a repelling course. We each got to repel down the
cliff once.
