Indoor Rock Climbing 2013

Rock climbing was one of the most exciting indoor outings this year. On Friday night, we left Sudbury and go to the the rock climbing gym. The people taking the merit badge left at 4 and the people just going to climb left at 5. I was in the merit badge class. We arrived at the rock gym and we waited while the leader in charge of the trip sorted out all of the forms and money. While they did that, we got suited up in harnesses and got ready to climb. The rock gym counselor started to set up the rope while we climbed in the bouldering area. We then were called over to start the class. We reviewed our knowledge of how to tie the figure 8 and then the climbing knot. The other group came in and they started on the bouldering. Eventually, we all settled in and the people who took the class were belaying each other, and those who did not take the class used the auto-belayers (instead of a person belaying, there is a spring mechanism at the top that pulls the rope in). At around 9:30, we all engorged in the pizza Mr. Green and Mr. Wang picked up. We ate pizza, and then continued climbing for the rest of the night. At around 12:15, we all moved around the mats that you land on when bouldering and used them for sleeping pads.
