Class B uniforms

by Kevin

This year was the first year that the troop decided to wear their own customized Class B uniforms. You should know by now that Class B Uniforms are simply tee-shirts with something printed on it. Since this was our first year that the troop ordered them, I received an extreme amount of orders. The troop ordered a total of 144 shirts from Midland Graphics based in Marlborough.

Many people have asked me  “How did you get stuck with organizing this whole operation?” Well to tell the truth I really do not know. I have a theory though, and it is simply this: if you have an idea you get stuck with, just do it. I thought of this idea last year when I was still in my old troop. I visited this one because my brother was a Webeloe and we had to find a troop in Sudbury. There was a large number of scouts in this troop and I as one of them.  I really did not enjoy wearing our tan ones to summer camp. There was only one solution to this and it was that someone had to organize the purchase of the shirts. I first proposed this idea to one of the troop leaders while I was on the December camping trip at Resolute. In the winter I reflected on what I was going to do that next summer. I proposed the idea to Mr.H. and with his approval I brought it before the troop committee. My proposal was approved by the committee and I begun to present it to the troop.

I started to take orders. Little did I know that I was going to receive so many orders. I took many trips out to Marlborough with Mrs. C. Therefore, I thank her once again for that. I also thank Sam for helping me organize all of the many shirts. I finally started to pass out all of the shirts at the recent Court of Honor. Also there I received many suggestions to do this again next year.

This project has involved a lot of my time and effort but, as many of the scouts agree with me, it as all worth it.

Next year the troop will take orders for, again the tee-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, as well as sweatshirts. I hope to receive your opinions on what to do in the future.
